About Moongig
Moongig is a rapidly growing digital healthcare talent platform transforming the way healthcare professionals and employers connect in the Philippines and abroad. By leveraging technology, we provide healthcare workers with a broad range of job opportunities, while enabling hospitals, clinics, and care providers to access the skilled talent they need to deliver exceptional care.
Our leadership team combines deep healthcare technology operating experience with proven startup scaling capability. You will work directly with Christian Besler, a health-tech veteran with 20+ years experience and degree from Columbia University, and Nathaniel Ricca, a Harvard Business School graduate who previously built and scaled a Y Combinator-backed startup.
We expand access, enhance workforce mobility, and support professional growth across the healthcare ecosystem.
Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on, CPA-licensed Senior Accountant to fully own Moongig's day-to-day finance and accounting operations. This is an execution-focused role: you will close the books cleanly each month, file our taxes correctly and on time, and deliver accurate, investor-ready financial reports without supervision.
You will be the single point of accountability for everything finance and accounting at Moongig, from BIR compliance to monthly close to cashflow tracking. You won't be doing this alone: you'll have direct access to the founders, our external auditors and legal, and the operational support to get things done. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in accurate books, on-time filings, and getting the numbers right the first time.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Close & Reporting
- Own end-to-end monthly close: journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and review
- Reconcile bank, credit card, payroll, and related accounts on a monthly basis
- Prepare monthly, YTD, and full-year financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) with quick turnaround
- Maintain a clean, organized general ledger and ensure audit-ready books at all times
- Produce investor- and board-ready financial reports when requested
Tax & Statutory Compliance
- Own all BIR filings end-to-end: VAT, withholding tax, income tax, and annual filings
- Hands-on use of eBIRForms, eFPS, and validation modules
- Ensure timely and accurate compliance with SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, and all other statutory requirements
- Coordinate directly with external auditors, tax agents, and government agencies
- Maintain complete documentation to support every filing
Daily Finance Operations
- Manage AP/AR: invoicing, collections, vendor payments, and reimbursements
- Process payroll and professional fee disbursements accurately and on time
- Coordinate with HR and/or external payroll providers to validate payroll reports and deductions
- Monitor and report cashflow, burn rate, and runway on a weekly or bi-weekly basis
Budgeting & Variance Tracking
- Track actuals against approved budgets and flag variances proactively
- Support founders with simple cost analysis and unit economics when needed
Systems & Documentation
- Maintain and improve accounting tools, trackers, and reports
- Document finance processes, approval workflows, and internal controls
- Streamline and automate recurring tasks where possible
Minimum Qualifications
Required
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license — non-negotiable
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field
- 4–6 years of hands-on accounting experience, with at least 2 years independently owning the full monthly close cycle
- Strong, current working knowledge of Philippine taxation — VAT, withholding, income tax, annual filings
- Hands-on experience with eBIRForms, eFPS, and BIR validation modules
- Demonstrated ability to independently prepare accurate financial statements (monthly, YTD, full-year) with quick turnaround
- Proficient in Excel / Google Sheets
- Strong attention to detail and a high bar for accuracy
Strongly Preferred
- Experience in a startup, SME, or fast-paced environment where you owned finance end-to-end with minimal supervision
- Experience preparing financials used in fundraising, due diligence, or investor reporting
- Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar cloud accounting software
- Exposure to cross-border transactions or multi-entity bookkeeping (a plus as Moongig expands internationally)
- Comfortable leveraging AI tools such as Claude Cowork to improve productivity, e.g., drafting memos, automating recurring tasks, reviewing reconciliations, or accelerating documentation
How You Work
- You take ownership and deliver on time, every time, without being chased
- You are organized, methodical, and process-driven
- You are comfortable working independently in an evolving environment
- You ask the right questions when something is unclear, instead of guessing
