Job Description

The Librarian works primarily to provide students, teachers, and the whole community with reading materials, services, and other activities that would enhance their love for reading. He collaborates with the Katigbak Educational Media Center (KEMC) Coordinator on planning, teaching, and integrating library services with the school’s academic and non-academic programs. He is under the supervision of the KEMC Coordinator, Subject Area Coordinator (SAC) for English or Academic Coordinator (AC), and Grade Level Coordinator (GLC).

He participates in acquiring, organizing, circulating, and referencing KEMC materials. Each librarian handles a specific area in the KEMC and performs corresponding tasks in addition to his regular duties.

Duties and Responsilibities

The Librarian:

plans, implements, and evaluates the Media and Information Literacy Program (MILP) Modules of his grade-level assignment

studies the curriculum needs of the grade levels and subject areas to integrate the various media resources available in the KEMC

selects and recommends print and non-print materials for acquisition

plans, implements, and evaluates other programs and activities to enhance the appreciation and utilization of various media collections

prepares quarterly and annual reports of his area assignment

participates in the annual inventory of KEMC resources and updates the bibliographic information in the library management system

helps supervise the KEMC staff and oversees the smooth implementation of services and procedures of the KEMC
