Systems Engineer  

General Responsibilities:

The Systems Engineer maintains, supports, and optimizes IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and systems. The role involves implementing technical solutions, troubleshooting moderate to complex issues, and contributing to technical projects. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to support business objectives and improve system efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

System Design & Implementation

Implement and maintain reliable, scalable, and secure systems, including servers, storage, and networks.

Assist in system upgrades, migrations, and integrations under guidance from senior staff.

Ensure disaster recovery and backup systems are operational and meet organizational standards.

System Maintenance & Optimization

Monitor system performance and apply optimizations to enhance efficiency and stability.

Install updates, patches, and security configurations to maintain compliance and performance.

Perform routine system checks and proactively identify potential issues.

Troubleshooting & Support

Diagnose and resolve technical issues spanning hardware, software, and network layers.

Provide second-tier support for escalated system-related issues.

Develop documentation for troubleshooting processes and provide technical support to junior staff.

Security & Compliance

Implement security measures to safeguard systems and data.

Ensure IT systems adhere to company policies and compliance regulations.

Identify vulnerabilities through regular audits and recommend mitigation strategies.

Collaboration & Leadership

Work closely with IT teams, including developers, network engineers, and IT support.

Act as a technical resource for less experienced engineers, offering mentorship and guidance.

Coordinate with vendors and partners for system-related projects.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.

Prepare reports on system performance, security incidents, and project status.

Job Specifications:

Education – Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, VMware Certified Associate, etc.) are preferred.

Related Work Experience -

3+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related role.

Demonstrated experience in maintaining and supporting IT systems and networks.

Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., Aws, Azure), virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and storage systems.

Experience managing macOS environments and integrating them into corporate IT systems.

Experience in configuring and managing Mac-based software and hardware.

Knowledge

Proficient in operating systems (Windows, Linux) and system automation tools.

Basic scripting knowledge (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).

Familiarity with network protocols, firewalls, and load balancers.

Familiarity with Mac-specific tools such as JAMF, Munki, Apple Remote Desktop, and MDM solutions.

Understanding of Apple’s security and management protocols, such as FileVault, Gatekeeper, and SIP (System Integrity Protection).

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
