Garments Costing Engineer  

Job Summary:

The Garments Costing Engineer is responsible for developing accurate cost estimates for garment production, ensuring all operations and processes are accounted for and optimized for efficiency. This role requires collaboration with various departments to ensure cost-effective and quality production.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operations Breakdown:
   • Prepare a detailed operations breakdown for each garment style.
   • List all garment parts and their corresponding operations or processes required to complete the garment.
   • Identify and specify the machine to be used for each operation.
2. Standard Minute Value (SMV) Estimation:
   • Calculate the estimated SMV for each sewing and non-sewing operation.
   • Determine the total SMV for the garment by summing individual operation times.
3. Inclusion of Operations:
   • Ensure all sewing and non-sewing operations for a garment are included in the operations breakdown.
   • Verify the completeness and accuracy of the operations list.
4. Standard Time Review:
   • Check and review all standard times used in each operation.
   • Set standard times for new operations based on time studies and analysis.
5. Cost Reduction and Method Analysis:
   • Collaborate with the Product Development team to review garment construction.
   • Analyze potential cost reduction opportunities or more accessible methods of operation for mass production.
6. Sample Review:
   • Inspect and review all garment samples before releasing them to the Quality Control and Production departments.
   • Ensure samples meet quality standards and production feasibility.
7. Communication and Collaboration:
   • Communicate effectively and professionally with coworkers and team members in Product Development/technical staff.
   • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless production and cost management

• Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in garment costing, operations breakdown, and SMV estimation.
• Strong knowledge of garment manufacturing processes and machinery.
• Proficiency in costing software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Attention to detail and a solid commitment to accuracy.
• This is a work on-site set-up.
