Job Description

Summary of Work Activities and Responsibilities:
The Director oversees all college student organizations and co-curricular activities, ensuring alignment with the university’s values and formation goals. The role involves developing and enforcing policies, systems, and support mechanisms that foster a dynamic, inclusive, and purpose-driven student activities ecosystem—one that cultivates ethical leadership, creative engagement, and community impact.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Student Formation

  • Provides strategic leadership in the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs focused on student leadership development and organization capacity-building.
  • Oversees the initiatives and operations of student organizations, offering direct guidance in planning, strategy, and execution to ensure quality learning and formation experiences.
  • Supervises student engagement and representation in various university-wide activities, ensuring that these opportunities contribute to holistic formation.
  • Facilitates effective collaboration between student organizations and university administration offices to encourage strategic partnerships and shared outcomes.
  • Acts as the primary liaison and resource person between student organizations and the college administration to promote mutual understanding, support, and aligned objectives.
  • Develops and applies assessment tools, rubrics, and evaluation mechanisms to measure and enhance the effectiveness of student organizations and their projects.
  • Leads a systematic incubation and mentoring program for emerging student organizations to help them grow in mission-alignment, structure, and sustainability.
  • Provides ongoing consultation, mentorship, and support to student leaders and responds to student-related emergencies or crisis situations when necessary.

2. Administration

  • Manages the OSA operational budget and develops policies and protocols for the effective and transparent use of the student activities fund and the publication fund.
  • Works closely with the assistant vice president for Ignatian Leadership Formation and other Mission Integration offices to co-create meaningful programs and implement shared strategic priorities.
  • Formulates and enforces the guidelines on student activities to ensure that student organizations thrive within the framework of university policies and values.
  • Coordinates and supports the pool of moderators of student organizations to align formation goals and ensure clear communication of vision and strategies.
  • Oversees the performance and professional development of OSA staff, manages the selection and onboarding of new personnel, and fosters a culture of collaboration and excellence.

3. Representation

  • Advocates for student organization interests in key university processes such as planning, policy development, student orientation, and other institutional engagements.
  • Serves as moderator of the confederation of publications.
  • Represents OSA in internal university committees and initiatives that concern student formation, student life, and organizational development.
  • Represents the Undergraduate Higher Education Unit in external affairs, networks, and partnerships that advance student leadership formation and organizational excellence.
  • Participates in relevant external conferences, fora, and meetings that contribute to professional growth and the enhancement of student activities and services.

4. Other responsibilities as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor or authorized
representatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Technical Competencies

  • High proficiency level in program design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation
  • High proficiency level in policy formulation related to student organizations, governance, and event management
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop staff
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to oversee multiple student programs, events, and initiatives
  • Excellent facilitation skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with students, faculty, administrators, and external partners
  • Proficient in policy development, risk management, organizational systems, and budget management
  • Proficient in data-informed decision-making, student learning outcomes assessment, and use of digital tools for student engagement
  • Familiarity with digital tools for student engagement, database management, and program assessment

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • College degree
  • A Masteral/Doctoral degree in Education, Leadership, or a related field is an advantage
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in student affairs, student organizations, or co-curricular program management
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership and administrative roles within a university setting
  • Experience as a student leader or youth leader
  • Experience in fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within student programs
  • (Preferred) Prior experience working in Jesuit or Catholic higher education institutions
  • (Preferred) 7+ years of experience in student affairs, with a track record of developing innovative programs for student leadership and organization development.
  • (Preferred) Experience in crisis management, student conduct processes, and student mental health and wellness initiatives.
