Job Description

Project Title: Baseline and Endline Evaluation using LandScale Framework for the Strategic Alliance for Sustainable Coconut Production (STA Coco) in the following sites: Region 2 (Southern Leyte) - Lean Endline Evaluation and Region 1 (South Cotabato & Sarangani)

Project Duration: until 30 November 2025

The Project Associate is responsible for providing research and technical assistance to the Project Leader and Consultants. Specific tasks will include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Perform coordination functions with the implementing agency and stakeholders on technical aspects of the project.
  2. Assist in the formulation of survey questionnaires and sampling methodology.
  3. Conduct data gathering activities (e.g. surveys, FGDs, and KIIs).
  4. Collect relevant secondary information from various sources.
  5. Provide support in data encoding and data analysis;
  6. Supervise the field data collection and validate the data for completeness and reliability.
  7. Organize and provide support during meetings and consultations, including preparing discussion materials.
  8. Assist in writing, editing, and layouting of project outputs and deliverables.
  9. Perform other duties as needed for the successful completion of the project and its implementing unit.

Skills and competencies:

  1. Strong coordination and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and meet tight deadlines.
  2. Proficiency in data encoding, management, and analysis, including experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Stata) or other relevant tools.
  3. Excellent research and analytical skills, including synthesizing information from various sources.
  4. Strong technical writing skills, with experience in report writing, editing, and layouting.
  5. Contributes effectively to both independent tasks and team-based initiatives, demonstrating adaptability and a proactive approach.
  6. Maintains a high level of performance and accuracy while working efficiently to meet deadlines, even in demanding situations.

Other requirements:

  • Immediate availability to start.
  • Must be prepared to travel to project sites for fieldwork and coordination meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

Educational background:

Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Environmental Science, Development Studies, Social Science, or other related fields.

Work experience:

  • At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in implementing evaluation studies, project coordination, and research, preferably in agriculture, rural development, or related sectors.
  • Proven experience in conducting data collection activities, such as surveys, focus group discussions (FGDs), and key informant interviews (KIIs).
  • Experience in designing survey tools, sampling methodologies, and working with large datasets is preferred.
  • Prior involvement in government or donor-funded development projects is an advantage.

Who We Are The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) is a non-profit organization established by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) in 1966. Founded in 1965, SEAMEO is a chartered international organization whose purpose is to promote cooperation in education, science and culture in the Southeast Asian region. Its highest policymaking body is the SEAMEO Council, which comprises the Ministers of Education of the 11 Southeast Asian countries. The Center derives its juridical personality from the SEAMEO Charter and possesses full capacity to contract; acquire, and dispose of, immovable and movable property; and institute legal proceedings. Moreover, SEARCA enjoys in the territory of each of its member states such privileges and immunities as are normally accorded United Nations institutions. Representatives of member states and officials of the Center shall similarly enjoy such privileges and immunities in the Philippines as are necessary for the exercise of their functions in connection with SEARCA and SEAMEO.
