Job Description

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Professional knowledge and working expertise, with an extensive portfolio in
    • Art direction
    • Graphic design and visual communication
    • Designing complex narratives and information
  • Professional knowledge in graphic design, photo, video, and multimedia editing software, particularly Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
  • Strong sense of visual design, particularly in typography, and relevant cultural contexts of communication
  • Strong presentation, writing, and editing skills in both English and Filipino
  • Ability to understand and implement brand identity and content standards, and identify whether materials are aligned and misaligned
  • Self-directed, but works well with teams
  • Proficiency in photo, video, and multimedia editing software
  • Proficiency in standard computer operating systems, cloud collaboration, and cloud storage (Mac OS, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office)
  • Web- and tech-savvy; comfortable with creating, consuming, and using digital media, especially on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok social media platforms

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher), preferably in communication, design, web development, or any related field
  • 3 years of professional experience in marketing communications, design, web development, or advertising
  • Education and work experience in Ateneo de Manila University or in another Philippine Jesuit educational institution or ministry are a distinct advantage

Minimum Qualifications

Summary of Work Activities and Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Creative Services Head, University Marketing and Communications Office (UMCO), the Design Specialist (Information Designer):

  1. Conceptualizes and produces engaging and meaningful ways to present narratives and information across print, digital, and interactive spaces, mindful of strategy, accessibility, usability, and effective communication
  2. Ensures that Ateneo de Manila’s key messages and identity are communicated clearly and consistently in data and information on various channels
  3. Coordinates and contributes to strategic design and marketing communications efforts, combining creativity and clarity to contribute to improving the presentation of the University’s brand and creative vision.


Main Duties and Responsibilities
I. Visual storytelling and information design

  • Transform and reimagine complex narratives and information into engaging visual narratives, such as infographics, reports, posters, and other materials
  • Develop interactive print, physical, and digital content (e.g., timelines, displays, presentations, signage) that bring Ateneo’s identity and key messages to life
  • Create information materials to support events, publications, and strategic communication efforts

II. Design for communication and impact

  • Develop and promote the use and implementation of information design systems, including libraries of templates, layouts, and materials that empower even non-designers to produce visually consistent content. and maintain brand consistency and ensure a cohesive visual identity
  • Collaborate with various units to design information-rich materials and improve existing materials (including forms, information sheets, labels, stationery) that communicate effectively and clearly
  • Assist in the development of communications for senior leaders and key University initiatives, including publications, visual reports, and presentations

III. Collaboration and strategic design initiatives

  • Work closely with UMCO leadership and personnel to develop creative solutions for campaigns and key projects.
  • Partner with other offices to advocate good design and communications, provide creative insight, and conceptualize new design initiatives, from communications improvements, strategic plans. to campus-wide events.

IV. Perform other duties as may be required by the Immediate Supervisor and authorized representative
