Summary of Work Activities and Responsibilities:

  • The Carpenter II performs general carpentry work for the repair, maintenance, and construction of structural woodworks and wooden furniture in the University. The position also covers masonry, painting, roof and gutter repair, glass work, and minor welding tasks, as needed. In addition, the Carpenter II assists in post-construction activities and carries out job order requests, including those related to University events.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

I. Woodwork Construction and Building Repairs:

  • Measures and marks construction materials to guide woodwork fabrication and installation.
  • Shapes, assembles, and finishes rough and fine woodworks.
  • Installs hardware such as hinges, knobs, and other accessories.
  • Repairs and replaces broken, damaged, or rotten wooden parts of furniture and building fixtures, including tables, chairs, doors, and similar items.
  • Performs masonry, painting, roof repair, glass work, and minor welding works as required, including:
    • Constructing structures using brick, stone, marble, or similar materials and applying plaster, mortar, or other finishing materials;
    • Preparing surfaces and applying paint;
    • Joining parts through heating;
    • Repairing and installing glass doors and windows;
    • Conducting roof and gutter works such as leak repairs, waterproofing, installation, and replacement of roofs;
    • Performing minor welding works involving bollards, gratings, drains, doors, gates, fences, lockers, windows, and tarpaulin frames and installations.
    • Supports departments and offices by hauling materials and equipment and by setting up stages, backdrops, and cycloramas for events.
    • Maintains the work area and assigned tools by cleaning them regularly, using them properly, and arranging repairs when needed.
    • Conducts periodic maintenance of building doors and windows by checking alignment, making adjustments, and applying lubrication to hinges and bushings.
    • Performs annual minor rehabilitation of classroom and cafeteria tables and chairs.

II. Section Support

  • Transports fixtures within the campus using the assigned vehicle, as needed.
  • Coordinates with other CFMO sections in implementing carpentry, masonry, painting, and related works.
  • Conducts regular inspection of roof gutters and downspouts, reports findings to the immediate supervisor, and recommends appropriate corrective actions.

III. Other Duties

Performs other work-related tasks as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor or authorized representative.

Time Management – Effective handling of work schedules and client requests.

Coordination – Ability to work with other CFMO sections and adjust actions based on operational needs.

Social Perceptiveness – Awareness of others’ reactions and ability to respond appropriately.

Equipment Maintenance – Performing routine upkeep and identifying needed maintenance for tools and equipment.

Equipment Selection, Installing, and Repairing – Choosing the correct tools and carrying out installation and repair works properly.

Kualifikasi Minimum

  • Education and Experience Requirements:
    • At least High School graduate
    • Completed vocational course in wood working, carpentry and painting
    • With TESDA certificate in Carpentry/Welding (or any related course)
    • At least 1-2 years experience in building and horizontal construction.
    • At least 1-2 years experience in masonry, finishing and painting works
