The Junior Accountant is primarily responsible for maintaining and recording day-to-day financial transactions under Loft, which include, but not limited to, A/P, A/R, payroll and tax compliance.

The Junior Accountant will work closely with the General Accountant and Accounting Supervisor. S/he should also be able to effectively coordinate with the Loft Sales Team and August 99 Money Matters Team. S/he must also ensure that all transactions are properly documented and address all discrepancies and concerns as they arise.

 

Responsibilities

<ul>
	<li>Record day to day transactions for sales and purchases</li>
	<li>Prepares payroll register and statutory schedules with minimal number of employees</li>
	<li>Analyze reports generated from the accounting system</li>
	<li>Conduct month-end and year-end close process</li>
	<li>Deliver excellent customer service to Loft clients and team by addressing questions professionally and promptly</li>
	<li>Work on special projects such as process improvements, data analysis/compilation, presentations, report building, etc.</li>
	<li>Other duties that may be assigned by the Finance Manager and Loft Division Head</li>

		<li>Handle and receive payments from clients and cash return from employees;</li>
		<li>Prepare cash receipts and/or official receipts for clients;</li>
		<li>Release checks for payments to the following:</li>
	</ol>

	<ul>
		<li> Suppliers and contractors (for payment of services/goods);</li>
		<li> External clients (for refunds);</li>
		<li>Company Affiliates (for cash advances and payment of services); and,</li>
		<li>Concerned employees (for reimbursements and cash advances);</li>
	</ul>
	</li>
	<li style="list-style-type: none;">
	<ol>
		<li>Coordinate with Purchasing Officer, Purchasing Supervisor and Purchasing Assistant regarding availability of checks to be released and used for purchase transactions;</li>
		<li>Advise collections and payments for Division Executives thru Executive Secretaries;</li>
		<li>Verify from the availability of checks and coordinate with Messenger the checks that require urgent deposits </li>
		<li>Verify online payments and deposits made by external clients through accessing Company’s bank transaction history online and/or coordination with bank representatives regarding clearance status of Company or client’s deposits;</li>
		<li>Coordinate and reconcile with other departments for the direct deposit to company bank accounts;</li>
		<li>Prepare daily cashier’s report and submits to Treasury Supervisor and Treasury Manager for review and to other departments/external clients collection for reference in the preparation of daily schedules;</li>
		<li>Record in the Great Plains (GP) accounting system the cash receipts from the clients;</li>
		<li>Report to the Treasury Supervisor and/or Treasury Manager for the non-routine collection transactions such as: (a) refunds from suppliers; (b) receipt of post-dated checks; and, (c) correction of entries, prior to preparation and recording to GP accounting system;</li>
		<li>Reconcile cash receipt report with prepared and issued cash receipts at the end of the day;</li>
		<li>Respond to suppliers and contractors’ inquiries on status of accounts payable invoices and coordinates with Accounts Payable Supervisor, as needed, regarding queries of suppliers and contractors on matters other than release of checks;</li>
		<li>Maintain the master file of cash receipt vouchers and duplicate copies of cash receipts and official receipts; and;</li>
		<li>Perform other job-related tasks that may be assigned by superiors from time to time.</li>
