Backend Engineer  

As a Backend Engineer at Local First Health AI, you’ll play a key role in building the core infrastructure that powers our health applications. You’ll help develop scalable APIs, manage data flow, and collaborate with a cross-functional team to deliver systems that are used by healthcare providers in clinics, hospitals, and remote communities around the world.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

We're looking for someone with a solid foundation in backend development and the flexibility to wear many hats in a startup environment.

What we’re looking for:

• 2–3 years of experience in backend development
• Strong programming fundamentals (JavaScript/Node.js preferred, Rust knowledge a plus)
• Experience building APIs and working with databases (SQL or NoSQL)
• Comfortable using Git and version control workflows
• Familiarity with DevOps concepts (CI/CD, cloud services, automation)
• Experience working in Linux-based environments and using CLI tools
• A strong sense of ownership and initiative
• A problem-solving mindset with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize backend workflows

Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-moving, mission-focused startup

Bonus Points (Nice-to-Have):

• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Exposure to containerization tools like Docker or Kubernetes
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools
• Awareness of backend security best practices
• Interest or experience in applying AI to real-world use cases
